Phyllis Schmidt

Phyllis received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Mansfield University where she was a piano major and voice minor.  She received her Orff-Schulwerk Certification from University of Denver, and trained in Kodaly I, II, and III at Kean University and Westminster Conservatory. 

She comes to Hunterdon Academy of the Arts with 13 years of vocal music public-school-teaching experience in the Berkeley Heights Public Schools, Bayonne Public Schools, and Morris School District. She has 17 years experience with piano instruction in the greater Flemington area.  Phyllis currently studies with Dr. Kenneth Osowski, concert pianist, and professor at York College, Pa.

Phyllis directs the Trinity College London Guildhall international music exam program for the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts.  Seventeen teachers and approximately 55 students, encompassing the northern/central tier of New Jersey, participate in the practical and theory exam graded program.
