Welcome to the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts!

Based in Flemington, NJ, the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts (HAA) was founded by Valentina Jotovic and Dr. Antonius Bittmann, professor of music and current Chair of the Music Department at Rutgers University.  The mission of Hunterdon Academy of the Arts is to enrich the culture of Hunterdon County by offering an excellent and affordable education in music, visual arts, and theater.  

We welcome students of all skill levels and all ages, from babies to seniors.  

HAA features the largest and most distinguished music studio in Hunterdon County. Having received numerous awards and honors over the years, particularly for its early-childhood education, music at HAA includes a Kindermusik program that has been ranked by Kindermusik International among the top 1% of all Kindermusik studios worldwide! Moreover, in 2008 HAA became the Trinity Guildhall Centre of the northern tier of New Jersey. We are one of very few officially recognized Trinity Guildhall Centres across the U.S. Respected internationally , Trinity Guildhall offers a range of graded examinations that are administered jointly by the Trinity College London and London's Trinity Guildhall School of Music and Drama. This wonderful, motivational program allows students who have successfully completed certain higher-level grade examinations to qualify for college credit.

We are very selective in appointing faculty members to ensure that students will prosper in a safe environment and have a fruitful and inspiring learning experience.  Within easy reach of several esteemed colleges and universities, the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts is proud to present teachers trained, among others, at The College of New Jersey, Westminster Choir College, and the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.

Our students greatly benefit from regular opportunities to present their work in public.  Concerts, recitals, theater performances, and exhibits are important milestones in a student’s artistic and personal development, encouraging emotional health and increased self-esteem and confidence--qualities that many consider to be crucial to a successful and happy life.
