About Music at Hunterdon Academy of the Arts
Having acquired Cooper Music Studio in 2007, Hunterdon Academy of the Arts now features the largest music program in Hunterdon County.
The HAA music program is located in
Flemington, where it occupies a 3000 sqf state-of-the-art facility. Recognized for the high quality of our education far beyond the confines of New Jersey, we have been awarded the coveted title "Maestro" by Kindermusik International. This puts Hunterdon Academy of the Arts in the top 1% of Kindermusik studios worldwide!
Moreover, at the 2006 and 2007 conventions of Kindermusik International--in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Schaumburg, Illinois, respectively--we were honored for hosting the largest Kindermusik Young Child program in the world. But perhaps the most compelling testimony to our educational success is that some of our first Kindermusik students now have their own children enrolled with us!
In addition to its Kindermusik awards, Hunterdon Academy of the Arts has also distinguished itself by becoming in 2008 the Trinity Guildhall Centre of the northern tier of New Jersey. We are one of the very few offically recognized Trinity Guildhall Centres across the U.S. Respected internationally, Trinity Guildhall offers a range of graded music examinations that are admnistered jointly by Trinity College London and London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Grade exams, which are structured around prescribed syllabi, are available on most instruments,voice, and music theory. PLEASE NOTE THAT BY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE MOST ADVANCED GRADES, STUDENTS MAY QUALIFY FOR COLLEGE CREDIT.
Hunterdon Academy of the Arts features a comprehensive program of music instruction for students of all ages and skill levels. Aside from Kindermusik, HAA offers several other early-childhood programs such as Music for Little Mozarts, Orff Music and Movement, as well as recorder, string, GUITAR, AND keyboard classes. Once students have completed their early-childhood training, they are strongly encouraged to study an instrument in private or semi-private lessons, and through participation in various ensembles, most notably the Hunterdon Youth Choir, the Hunterdon Academy of the Arts Youth Orchestra, and the Hunterdon Guitar Ensemble.
For your convenience, we have joined the National Educational Music Company (NEMC) as the area's exclusive affiliate. This allows parents and students to rent and purchase musical instruments directly through Hunterdon Academy of the Arts.
