Want to become a Pop Star and learn pop songs and dance music hits? HAA Pop Music Band provides a new opportunity for students to apply their musical skills by performing pop hits in a band setting. HAA Pop Music Band is offered as an 8-week workshop with weekly band rehearsals of 60 minutes. Students are placed into two different age groups:

Young Stars Band (Grades 4 through 8)
High School Band

Unlike our HAA Rock Bands, which focus on Rock songs, the HAA Pop Music Band explores folk/singer-songwriter pop, pop-punk, and country rock/pop. We will perform pop songs and music hits by, among others, Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), The Jonas Brothers, John Mayer, Greenday, BlackEyedPeas, Taylor Swift, and Jack Johnson. Additionally, band members may suggest popular songs of their own choice, and under the guidance of the instructors, guitarist/songwriter Jen Ketrow and guitarist Christopher Saponara, learn how to write their own music!

Singers, Guitarists, Bass Players, Keyboard Players, Drummers, Violinists, and Saxophone and Trumpet Players are welcome!

The Basic Requirements for Students to join the Band are:
Guitars and bass players should have some ability to read music notation and/or tablature. Drummers should have some understanding of rhythmic notation. All singers and other instrumentalists should have basic music-reading abilities.
