Abbie-Jean L.
Abbie-Jean is a Pennsylvania-based actor, singer, director and designer. She is a theatre professional, experienced in arts-education, who is passionate about delivering curriculum that fosters growth, values the voice of students in the art-making process, and celebrates the diversity of students. Abbie-Jean has a BA from Messiah University in Acting and Directing, and has recently graduated from Moravian University with an MFA in Performance Creation specializing in the creation of unique and wholly original theatre performances through the utilization of devising techniques. She has had the privilege of acting, directing, and/or designing 15+ original theatre productions during her 2 year MFA program, and hopes to continue both in the Lehigh Valley and beyond. She developed a passion for teaching theatre through her residencies at Open Stage (Harrisburg, PA) and Touchstone Theatre (Bethlehem, PA). Her training includes proficiency in: scene study, improvisation, body and movement, devising techniques, and vocal performance. Abbie-Jean understands the importance of making individuals feel seen and heard, and fostering a community that can be inclusive and equitable amongst a diverse group of people, and hopes her students can emerge from classes as both well-trained actors and individuals who know they are valuable and can make a difference in the world. She is ecstatic to combine her love of theatre and passion for teaching here at HAA!
