Piano teacher Drew S. holds a Master
of Music degree in classical piano performance from the Manhattan
School of Music, where he studied with Professor Phillip Kawin.
Drew's previous formal classical piano training includes studies with Sam Howard in Birmingham, AL and masterclass performances for Gabriela Montero and Bruce Brubaker. He completed his Bachelor of Music degree in classical piano, studying with Anthony Pattin, at the University of Montevallo in 2011.
Drew has has extensive experience as a piano accompanist. He values versatility as most important in musicianship and believes that jazz and classical improvisation are very important in shaping one’s musical talent. To broaden his musical training, Drew also received instruction on various percussion instruments, including timpani, drum set, and marimba while at the University of Montevallo. Furthermore, he has composed the score for two musical theater productions, and is also a composer and advocate of new electronic music.
Drew joined the Piano Faculty in 2013.
