Discover the Magic of Acting, Dance, and Musical Theatre!
Starting October 2024, students aged 4 to 17 have the opportunity to immerse themselves in our newly designed theatre arts program. Drawing on years of expertise in teaching Acting and Musical Theatre, we’ve enhanced our program with fresh insights and best practices from various disciplines. The result is an engaging, inspiring, and enjoyable classroom experience that, based on initial feedback, surpasses anything we’ve offered before. Our program encourages students to be brave and strive for excellence—in the classroom, on stage, and in their everyday lives.
Integrated and Structured Curriculum
HAA’s theatre arts classes provide an immersive experience, combining acting, music (voice), and dance (movement) for students from early childhood through young adulthood. Our curriculum is thoughtfully structured to provide age-appropriate instruction, especially for our youngest learners, whose developmental stages evolve rapidly. At every level, we aim to instill a deep appreciation for the theatrical disciplines—acting, music, and dance—transcending age boundaries. This approach mirrors the intergenerational nature of theater and film, where actors of all ages collaborate to bring stories to life.
From Classroom to Stage: Productions
Our curriculum emphasizes performance as a core aspect of growth, helping students discover their identities, hone their skills, and build essential life skills. Friendly “auditions” are a key feature across all classes, with expectations tailored to each level. While in-class performances are valuable, the true magic unfolds on stage before an audience. We strongly encourage students to participate in our year-round Musical Theatre and Acting productions, giving them the opportunity to shine in our beautiful new theater and experience the excitement of the performing arts.
Lead Roles, College Interviews, Job Interviews, and Career Advancement: Preparing Students for Lifelong Success
Starting from a young age, our audition experiences build confidence and set students up for success in various future endeavors, including lead roles at HAA and beyond, college interviews, job interviews, and career promotions. The transformative impact of our program extends far beyond the stage, shaping students’ lives in meaningful ways.
Goal Setting
We prioritize helping students create a vision for their future both at HAA and beyond. Our Theatre Arts Students engage in short, medium, and long-term goal setting, from mastering a song, monologue, or dance for the next class (short-term) to aiming for an HAA award in a few years (medium-term) or setting post-HAA career goals (long-term).
Celebrating and Rewarding Achievement
To motivate and celebrate student accomplishments, we offer various forms of recognition, such as assigning lead roles or individual Showcase performances on our theater stage. We also provide tangible rewards to symbolize and celebrate students' achievements, making their hard work and progress visible and valued.
