C.J. H.
C.J. H. brings a strong music education background to Hunterdon Academy of the Arts. He received his Bachelor degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Following his graduation, he taught 5th-12th grade Band and 7th-12th grade Choir in the Nebraska Public Schools for two years. While most of his work has been in classical music, he taught a very eclectic mix of ensembles. His instrumental ensembles included: 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, Junior High Band, High school Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band and Pep Band. His Vocal Ensembles included: Junior High Chorus, High School Chorus, Show Choir, Jazz Choir and an after school Female Acapella Ensemble. He also had several of his student take solo repertoire to State Contests and participate in Nebraska All-State as well as State Music festivals.
As a performer, C.J. is a recent graduate from Montclair State University where he received his Masters of Arts in Voice Performance as a countertenor. His opera roles include Orlofsky from Johann Strauss II Die Fledermaus, Vitige from G.F. Handel’s Flavio, Gheradino from Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Ariodante from Handel’s Ariodante. C.J. has also had the pleasure of performing with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Richard Alston Dance Company, the Omaha Symphony, the MSU Orchestra and the Heartland Philharmonic. He has also made appearances at: The Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall: Weill Recital Hall and Stern Auditorium, The Holland Performing Arts Center and Sadler’s Wells in London.
